Weather/Hydro station installation at the Muscatine Ag Learning Center!

The Ag Center and Muscatine FFA have partnered with the University of Iowa Hydroscience Department to install a weather/Hydro station at the Ag Center. In May, the 20-foot well was drilled. Muskie students in the Ag Classes met and worked with Soil Scientists on the well project. Later, the station will be installed and will be up and running next school year. The goal is one per county; they are currently at 22, with more to install this summer.

Data from the network is publicly available on the Iowa Flood Information System (IFIS). The hydrostations report data every hour to IFIS. This equipment will assist with flood prediction and drought monitoring and get us closer to having one station in every county.
