The Seal of Biliteracy is in its second year at MCSD. The Seal recognizes students who are fluent in English and another language. Students who demonstrate proficiency in another language qualify to receive the Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diplomas. Although fairly new to Iowa (2018), many school districts around Iowa have included it within their recognitions. According to the Seal of Biliteracy site, the Seal “…encourages students to pursue biliteracy, honors the skills our students attain, and can be evidence of skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions offices.”

MHS students will have an opportunity to test for the Seal of Biliteracy in late April or early May so they can be recognized and celebrated before graduation. For more information, please contact Associate Principal Morgan Mohr at morgan.mohr@mcsdonline.org.
